Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 1, 2026
Byterati is built to be private. It does not collect, store, or share any personal data, it has no user accounts, and it contains no analytics or tracking of any kind.
Information we collect
None. Byterati has no accounts and no analytics. We do not receive any information about you or how you use the app.
Network requests
To do its job, the app makes requests directly from your device to public services:
- Project Gutenberg (and the Gutendex catalog) — to search for and download book texts.
- LibriVox and the Internet Archive — to find and stream or download public-domain audiobooks.
- Hugging Face — a one-time download of the optional on-device neural voice model.
As with any request to a website, those third parties receive standard request metadata (such as your IP address). We do not control their handling of that data; please refer to their respective privacy policies. Byterati sends no personal information of its own in these requests.
What's stored on your device
Books you open, downloads you save, your library and tags, and your reading position and preferences are stored only on your device. The optional neural voice model, once downloaded, is also stored only on your device. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. Deleting the app removes this data.
Children's privacy
Byterati does not collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
